Flavour and description
Flaked wheat is an unmalted cereal grain that contributes significantly to a beer’s mouthfeel and flavour profile. Compared to malted wheat, it imparts more intense and rustic flavours – often described as spicy, bready, and grainy – which can lend complexity and depth, especially in traditional and farmhouse-style ales. Because it’s unmalted, flaked wheat retains more of its raw cereal character, enhancing the beer’s texture and authenticity.
